This Mycenaean fortress has preserved a cyclopean wall of the XIIIth BC and the vestiges of the palate. The site is registered to the UNESCO heritage.
According to the legend, the king of Tiryns, Amphitryon, were usurped by Zeus himself who took its appearance to consume the marriage of the King and the charming Alcmena. Two soon born in this union, among them Hercules.
The history of Tiryns seems to finish in the Vth BC when Argos devastated it.
