Macedonian city of furriers since centuries, Kastoria is built on a part of a semi-island on a large lake.
It is atypical by the number of small Byzantine churches which strew its streets from which there remain about fifty. Most were built between the IXth and the XIIth centuries.
Its houses of furriers are also remarkable, often in a state of advanced decay.
