Sparta, also called Lakedaimon is a greek city situated in south of Peloponnese, next to the Eurotas river and between the mounts of Parno and the Taygete' ones.
In the ancient greek history, it was known as an austerus and mad city, rival of Athens. It beated this last one during the Peloponnese'war. Today, there are about 18.000 inhabitants, industrial and commercial center of little dimension.
In the ancient city, near the actual town ,there are few archaeological rests. One can find among the olive trees the foundations of an Athena temple, a sanctuary dedicated to Artemide Ortia, and the rests of a hellenic-roman theatre.
